Spring is a time for
renewals, renovations
Spring may be just around the corner according to the calendar, but it has already
begun here as landscapes are returning to their vibrant hues, orange blossoms are
preparing to burst, baseball players are taking to the practice fields and honey do lists
are being completed.
In this issue of Port St. Lucie Magazine, we take a look at some of the new beginnings,
makeovers, renovations and repairs happening around the city.
The news out of St. Lucie West is all good for New York Mets fans. The team, which
changed the name of its stadium to First Data Field last year, also has plans to renovate its
spring training center. Writer Greg Gardner outlines what is in store for the 30-year-old
stadium. He also takes a look at the many new faces in the clubhouse who will be joining
Tim Tebow for spring training. Page 8
At the Boatman Abode in the PGA Village, there was an air of urgency as the couple
raced to transform their home from a very traditional look to modern contemporary before
the stork made a special delivery. Page 12
On Page 32, Ellen Gillette writes about how a new basketball program has paired up
with Barnabas Christian Academy to help players succeed on and off the court. Gillette
also profiles a longtime watchmaker who says when buying a watch, it’s more important to
look at it from the inside out. Page 40
