St. Lucie Jewelry and Coins: The Best in Port St. Lucie

St. Lucie Jewelry and Coins has been named Best Jewelry Store in Port St. Lucie Magazine’s annual Best of Port St. Lucie contest for 2025. Hawk Levy, owner of the business, found success by adjusting and adapting to the times. His primary store in East Port Plaza has been satisfying customers for more than 30 years; the St. Lucie West location has operated for five. Levy also operates an international online auction house called Confiscated Assets Auctionneers, found at 2bidonit.com.

“My concept of success is you make a little bit of money on a lot of people, and everybody is happy,” Levy said. “Every-body wins.”

Levy built his reputation on transparency and trust. “I wanted to be the kind of person who treated people right, with respect. That’s the way I was brought up, and the way I’ve always done business.”

His approach has also brought back generations of customers. “People come in and say, ‘My mother and grandmother did business with you,’” he said. “I work hard, but I love what I do. I love coming to work every day... still. It lightens my day. It makes me feel good when people come in and say ‘Hi.’  It makes me happy.”

The feeling is mutual for repeat customers who rave about the quality and variety of the merchandise.

Levy is assisted by a staff representing several fields, including numismatists who collect and research coins. John LaPorte and Hunter Springsteen share their knowledge with customers looking to trade, buy, sell, count, date, authenticate or appraise their coins. They also deal with stamps and bullion.

Master jeweler Joseph Shepkosky has been with Levy 20 years, designing, manufacturing, and repairing jewelry, watches and clocks. “The store is unique due to the versatility... the amount of services.”

Denise Barrett manages the St. Lucie West store assisted by Payten Kasper, and a new master goldsmith, Jose Orozco. St. Lucie Jewelry and Coins is an Authorized Goldback Dealer and has been voted Best Gold Buyers. Both locations stand out in the community by doing it all — estate jewelry, treasure and other coins, clocks, watches, gemstones... and of course, diamonds.

Lab-grown diamonds comprise the fastest growing segment of Levy’s business. “They’re eco-friendly, a fraction of the cost of earth-mined,” he said. “Real diamonds at roughly one-fifth the cost.”

Online auctions are also increasing. “You simply log in to the auction page. People electronically submit their bids and then it goes live in real time. We also offer timed auctions. We go through about 200 pieces in eight hours, mostly fine jewelry, watches, gems and coins. We’re represented in countries all over the world.”

Levy and his then-pregnant wife moved to Port St. Lucie from Broward County in the late ‘80s, looking for a more family-friendly environment.  “If I do business, I can make money,”  he said, “but I can also be that person who does it the right way and gives back. We give a lot back to the community through charity.”

Another way St. Lucie Jewelry and Coins gives back is through periodic customer appreciation weekends, primarily at the St. Lucie West store. “We have food, special discounts, and raffles,”  Barrett said. “Customers can be on the look-out on social media.”  Patrons may also sign up for text notifications of flash events on the website, stluciejewelry.com.

Levy takes great pride in amassing more than 1,200 5-star Google reviews that consistently mention the friendly and helpful staff, fair pricing and extensive selection of merchandise. Customer service is too important to discount at St. Lucie Jewelry and Coins; everyone wants the best. “When you have 5-star reviews,” Levy said, “that’s really important. Once people find us, they don’t really go anywhere else.”
