live music. For Sunday’s barbecue, you might find complimentary
ribs, pulled pork, tacos or bleu cheese hamburger
sliders. Patrons are welcome to order meals for delivery from
local restaurants or bring their own. “It’s like you’re in your
living room but we’re making you beer,” says Al Beltran,
general manager. “We are a community place. We encourage
people to bring food or have it delivered.”
Wednesday is Ladies day with $1 off everything all day.
Growler Thursday offers $2 off 32-ounce growlers and
reduced prices for refills. Every Friday is a Corn Hole Tournament
with cash and beer prizes. Flat-screen TVs are tuned to
sporting events for game fans.
Thirty sorts of grains are used to produce 50 different beers
with alcohol by volume ratings from 3.5 to 12.5. The outside
garden has been planted with various peppers and herbs that
will be used to flavor future beers. Signature brews are Indian
Pale Ale, Tag and Release Amber, Harvest Porter, Hammerdown
Belgian Tripel, Mango Hefeweizen, Lionfish with
jalapeno and cilantro, Parrotfish Full Wheat with pineapple,
and Mahi-Mahi cucumber and eucalyptus.
The master brewer is Kevin Storm, who came from Ashville
Brewing Co. in North Carolina, the craft beer brewing
capital of the country.
Sailfish Brewing Co.’s mission statement says it all. “Our
goal is to give Florida beer drinkers a craft beer that speaks
to our unique tastes, hot weather and love of the sea. Infused
with Indian River world-known citrus and tagged with familiar
fishing terms, our line of products is designed to quench
the thirst of a wide range of Florida customers — from fishermen
to surfers — while committing to protect the water that
surrounds us.”
The company has partnered with the Billfish Foundation,
known for its tag-and-release conservation efforts, donating
more than $2,000 last year for events. “We’re proponents of
the Treasure Coast and it’s not about making money,” says
co-owner Bischoff, a Vero Beach resident who graduated from
high school in Fort Pierce. “It’s about having a location where
people can enjoy their hometown brewery and local beers.”
Details are coming soon for the first anniversary celebration
in April.
