In Fort Pierce, the rink would be set up in a vacant lot
near the old post office, where Woolworth’s was on Orange
Avenue, and later on the property where Buzzz On In sits
now, on South U.S. 1 between Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie,
Melissa says.
CHANGING BUSINESS
While the industrious family looked for additional business
opportunities in Florida, Orville and Carroll helped build fish
cottages at the Port Salerno Fish Camp. It was another parttime
resident, however, a beekeeper from New York, who
gave the Gruwell Apiary its start in the mid-1950s, when he
