Word of mouth has it that the two New England Fish
Market & Restaurant establishments are top of the
line in fresh seafood. Almost anyone who has been
there knows that’s true. So what are they talking about? The
food, the decor, the service – it’s all so good that everyone
tells everyone else to go there, general manager Meaghan
Billemeyer says.
One of the most-loved dishes is the haddock Milanese,
she said. “It’s served with a homemade lemon butter sauce.”
The seafood business opened in 1981 on the bank of the
Indian River Lagoon and never stopped growing. By 1989, it
had to move to a bigger building and when it did, a kitchen
was opened for take-out or to eat at picnic tables. A few
years later the dining room opened. Now, there is also a
Palm City location. The Jensen Beach restaurant is beachthemed,
while the Palm City restaurant has a more artsy
look. Menus feature all kinds of seafood – Maine lobsters,
oysters, steamer clams, snapper, grouper, cobia, pompano,
shrimp, New Bedford sea scallops, Key West conch chowder
and much more. “We have the freshest of the fresh,” Billemeyer
says.
