there was Fort Pierce, the sole
city in St. Lucie County. Incorporated
in 1905, it has a fascinating
history. If you’ve ever wondered
about the past, this history
festival is for you. Presented
by Indian River Magazine, you
can learn about the very first
residents — the Ais Indians, take
a trolley tour, hear stories of the
famous landscape painter A.E.
“Bean” Backus, and much more.
Plus, there are tickets for sale for
an old-Floridian fish fry by the
well-known Summerlin family.
