16 more coronavirus cases on Treasure Coast
The Treasure Coast today reported an additional 16 cases and one death caused by coronavirus.
Martin County had 10 additional cases, St. Lucie County had five and Indian River County two. St. Lucie County Monday night also reported the death of 76-year-old man, the seventh death in St. Lucie from the virus.
The increase in cases for the region is slightly up from the weekend and late last week but still off the April 6 high of 51 cases. Indian River is experiencing the slowest increase in cases: just an additional nine cases over the last seven days.
In terms of mortality rate per population, St. Lucie County has a mortality rate of 4.3 percent per number of cases while Martin has a mortality rate of 2.46 percent and Indian River has a mortality rate of 1.3 percent, according to statistics from Johns Hopkins University. Florida’s mortality rate is 2.37 percent while the U.S. rate is 4.03 percent.
